Gloria Lilllian Grode (Tease) of Appleton, WI passed from this life to Jesus on September 16, 2024. She was born on June 16, 1926 in Little Chute, WI, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Honich) Tease. Gloria attended St. John’s Grade School and Kimberly High School, graduating with the class of ’44. She married Roland “Rolly” C. Grode Sr. on June 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1994.
Gloria and her husband Rolly farmed in the Freedom and Black Creek area for 15 years before moving to Appleton, where they started the R.C. Grode Excavating Co. In the 35 years spent in Appleton, she was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 38, and the Appleton Elks Auxiliary.
Gloria enjoyed the years spent at their home built on Long Lake in Waushara County. She liked to knit, crochet, bake, cook, read, and watch TV. She excelled at every aspect of homemaking. Gloria loved growing roses in her yard and she always had a warm smile waiting for anyone who visited.
Gloria is survived by her son, Roland (Linda) Grode; her grandchildren, Kristin (Jeff) Ellis, Aaron (Dorene) Grode, and Matthew (Julianna) Grode. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Braysen, Cayden, Allana, Sawyer, Siena, Emry, Blayse, Adley, and John; her special God-children, Cathy Wallace, Susan Dercks, Jim Verstegan, and Julie VandenBoogart; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Roland; as well as all her siblings, Clayton, Kenneth, and Harold Tease, Sylvester, Harold, and Ray Verstegan, and Evelyn Verstegan Chizek.
A funeral visitation will be held from 8:30 – 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St, Kaukauna, WI 54130 with a mass to follow at 10:30 AM officiated by Fr. Mark Rydell. Gloria will be laid to rest with her husband, Roland Sr. at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.
