Gloria Helen Carow

Gloria H. Carow, 89, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born on November 28, 1933 in Hurley, the daughter of Fredrick and Iona (Ames) Kromrey. Gloria graduated from Hurley High School, the Class of 1951. She was united in marriage to Louis Carow on August 13, 1955, in Madison, and obtained her registered nurse licensing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1956. She also entered the first Tuberculosis trial group. Louis and Gloria established Carow Land Surveying Co. Inc. in 1969, and operated it until Louis passed away in December of 1997. They completed their dream home on the shores of Little Lake Butte des Morts in 1988.

Gloria enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, bus trips and trips to the casinos. She loved to go on cruises and travel the world with her friend Judy Marko. Gloria was an accomplished seamstress, spending much time crafting clothing for her children. She was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Menasha since 1960.

Gloria is survived by her 2 children: Edward (Debbie Driessen) Carow and Lynda (fiancé Scott Schroeder) Thiel; a former daughter-in-law: Kim Carow; 3 grandchildren: Matti Carow, Kaise Paulson, and Katie Carow; 1 great grandson: Eli Spang; a brother: Fred (Marilyn) Kromrey; other relatives and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral service for Gloria will be at 1:00 pm, on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Wichmann Funeral, Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St., Menasha. Visitation will be on Monday at the chapel from Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Gloria’s daughter would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Paul Elder Services, St. Paul Hospice, and Oakridge Gardens for their kindness, care, and compassion.
