VERHAGEN, GLADYS C.

Gladys C. Verhagen, age 83, of Appleton, died at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, May 22, 2008. Gladys was born on May 17, 1925, in Stockbridge, Wisconsin, to the late Otto F. and Emma Marie (Hoelzer) Wilson. She was formerly married to Averd Verhagen; he preceded her in death in 1978. Survivors include her children, Charles Verhagen, Appleton; Debbie Plamann, Brooten, Minnesota; and Joseph (Chris) Verhagen, Chilton; her brothers, Bob (Nancy) Wilson, Stockbridge, and Norbert Wilson, Stockbridge; and her sister Mabel (Donald) Kosman, Chilton. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ethel Whitman, and her siblings John, Bill, Lester, Verona and Juanita. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL, Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call directly at the cemetery chapel on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Franciscan Care Center, her special nephew Marvin Wyngaard, the ICU staff at AMC and Chaplain Mark for their loving care. A memorial has been established in her name.
