Age 77, died peacefully, Sunday morning, March 9, 2003, at Cherry Meadows-Hospice, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born June 16, 1925, to the late Sulvan and Edna (Zuehlke) Stanelle, in Forest Junction and had been an Appleton resident for over 50 years. He married Arlene H. Yandre on June 16, 1951, at St Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton, she preceded him in death on January 30, 1994. Gib had been employed by a local moving and storage company and later became the owner of Arrow Moving and Storage for 20 years, retiring in 1982. He then was employed by Rohm Bus Company where he drove school bus until retiring at the age of 65. Gib was an avid sheepshead player and Packer fan. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Drews, Appleton; Ann and Stephen Calder, Appleton; four grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Vela, Elk Grove, IL; Aundrea Drews; Jonathan and Jacob Calder, all of Appleton; a great granddaughter, Abigail Vela; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Merlin Stanelle, Hilbert; Darrel and Eldora Stanelle, Brillion; a special friend, Geri Coenen, Hollandtown; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Barbara) Yandre; Robert (Jean) Yandre, all of Appleton; and Edward Ulrich, Green Bay. He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Andrew Drews, December 4, 1978. Funeral services for Gilbert will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at ZION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, N8893 Church Street, Forest Junction, with Reverend Warren R. Waddell officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 am, Wednesday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
