Nabbefeld, Gilbert F. "Gib"
Gib Nabbefeld, age 71, recently passed away peacefully in his home.
Gib was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Edward C. Nabbefeld and M. Lucille (Rammer) Nabbefeld.
He graduated from Appleton High School in 1952. He retired from Badger Globe; a division of the Kimberly Clark Corporation in Neenah, WI; after 40 years of service. He also held several second jobs over the years such as bartending and a relief mailman for a route that was considered "rural" at the time.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother Eugene, sisters Sue Abbas and Joan Appleby and a grandson, Taylor Sullivan.
Gib is survived by his sister Carmen (Pat) Laux, Sun City West AZ and brother Ed (Norie) Nabbefeld, Tacoma WA, his children and grandchildren: Lisa Nabbefeld Minneapolis MN, Katie Beroukhim, daughter Tanya Encinitas CA, Sandy (Jim) Sullivan, daughters Kira, Hannah and Rachel Greenville WI, Joe Nabbefeld Seattle WA, Ben Nabbefeld, son Max Tacoma WA and Mary (Sean) Dingeldein, sons Erich and Alex Brookfield WI.
Gib was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, both water and ice. For years he stored his boat on top of his car. People throughout the area would greet him with "hey fish". He owned property northwest of Florence WI, where he hunted deer, rabbit and squirrel and never failed to surprise his children or grandchildren with a great new squirrel tail. He spent much of his time up there hiking, camping, snow shoeing, watching the wildlife and just enjoying himself.
Gib loved to sing. He was famous for twisting lyrics in silly ways. He was a championship bowler and he loved to play and watch baseball. Go Cubs!
Wherever he lived, Gib turned average lawns into Gardens, (playgrounds when his children were young) one part beautiful, one part bountiful and one part menagerie.
Gib is already sadly missed and leaves behind many friends throughout the region, most recently the now-even-grumpier flock at Grumpy's. He has turned more than a few local taverns into Wisconsin's version of "Cheers".
