Bloy, Gertrude M.
Gertrude M. Bloy, age 90, of Appleton, died Tuesday morning, January 3, 2006. She was born February 25, 1915, to the late Adrian and Hendrika (Verhallen) Vanden Hogen, in Little Chute and had been an area resident all of her life. Gertrude married Ralph A. Bloy, of Sherwood, on September 21, 1937; he preceded her in death on January 1, 1964, after 27 years of marriage. Following Ralph’s death, Gertrude was employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital, as a Nurse’s Aide, for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton.
Gertrude is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Kathi Bloy, Appleton; Jim and Cheryl Bloy, Palm Bay, FL; a very special friend, Nancy Allen, Appleton; six grandchildren, Gina Phillips, Appleton; Jesse Bloy, Appleton; Alyssa (Jeremy) Harris, Kimberly; Molly (Charlie) Hydes, Louisville, KY; Cody Hickey, Oshkosh; Andy Carpenter, Berlin, WI; five great grandchildren, Holly and Hannah Phillips, Lindsey and Madeline Harris and Sierra Kool; six sisters-in-law, Ceil VanAsten, Kaukauna; Lucy (Roger) Vanden Heuvel, Kimberly; Elizabeth Bloy, Appleton; Margaret Gresl, Appleton; Mabel DeGraves, Green Bay; Linda Mader, Menasha; four brothers-in-law, Ben (Pat) Bloy, Kaukauna; Leonard (Shirley) Bloy, Appleton; Adolph (Charlotte) Bloy, Kaukauna; Hank Weyenberg, Little Chute; many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two beloved brothers, Martin and Wence Vanden Hogen, triplet brothers, Cornelius, Peter and Theodore and two infant brothers; an infant grandson, Jimmy Bloy; two sisters-in-law, Florence Weyenberg and Mildred (Everett) Wiegert; four brothers-in-law, Donald and Raymond Bloy, Paul Gresl, Lawrence Mader; two nephews, Donald Vanden Hogen and Jeffrey Bloy; a special couple, the adoptive parents of Cody, Patricia and Eugene Hickey.
The funeral liturgy for Gertrude will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2006, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sherwood. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 pm, Friday, until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
