Gertrude H. Hietpas

Age 95, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Appleton Medical Center. Gert was born in Kaukauna on April 18, 1909, daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Kortz) Timmers. On May 18, 1931, Gert married John A. Hietpas at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death in 1984. For nearly twenty-five years, the couple operated a dairy farm in the town of Vandenbroek, and in 1955 moved into Kaukauna. Gert was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Cross where she was a member of the Ladies of Holy Cross. John and Gert both enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Gert also knitted and crocheted. Survivors include four children: Roger (Lucille) Hietpas of Combined Locks; Joyce Smith of Neenah; Melvin (Grace) Hietpas of Darboy; Marvin (Imelda) Hietpas of Kaukauna; a daughter-in-law: Nancy Hietpas of Little Chute; thirty grandchildren; sixty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rosella Weyers of Neenah and Dorothy Siebers of Little Chute; a sister-in-law: Dorothy Timmers of Kaukauna; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gert was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1984, a son Nicholas O. Hietpas in 1976, four great-grandchildren, brothers Theodore (Elizabeth) Timmers, William (Veronica) Timmers, Nicholas (Velma) Timmers, Richard Timmers; sisters Ella (John) Bast and Mabel (Alvin) Lemke; and brothers-in-law Henry Weyers and Marvin Siebers.

The funeral liturgy for Gert will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 2, 2004 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the hour of the liturgy.
