Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Kirvan (Vander Linden), age 82 of Appleton, WI passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2024. She was born to Clifford and Evelyn (Gerard) Vander Linden on September 10, 1941 in Appleton, WI. After her high school graduation, she worked as a retail worker and eventually a catalogue specialist for Montgomery Ward for most of her working career. Gerry was also a proud, single mother for most of her life to 3 wonderful children.
Gerry enjoyed most outdoor activities, but none more than gardening. In summer, her yard was always blooming with beautiful roses, daisies, and so many more. She also occasionally grew vegetables, but flowers were her passion. You could often find Gerry at whatever Bingo event she could go to, trying her luck with those little blots and cards. She was a proud Sconnie and a huge Packer fan. Whenever they were playing, you could be certain that Gerry was cheering them on. More than anything, though, Gerry loved her family. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and the legacy they leave for her.
Gerry will be deeply missed by her children, Tina (David) Springer, Kelly (Dolores) Denny, and Scott Kirvan; her grandchildren, Rachael King, James (Morgan) Kaczmarek, Leah Kaczmarek, Karlee Navarrette, Nicole Kaczmarek, Kali Kirvan, Lahrissa Kirvan, and Laura Kirvan; her great-grandchildren, Adrian, Layla, Charlotte, Lincoln, and Anthony; her former son-in-law, Jim Kaczmarek; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Evelyn Vander Linden; her siblings, Milton Vander Linden, Eleanor (Arden) Stead, Melvin (Mary) Vander Linden, and Elizabeth (Donald) Schwante; and her beloved dog and forever faithful companion, Happy.
A memorial visitation will be held for Gerry from 9-11 AM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E Fremont St, Appleton, WI 54915 with a mass to follow at 11 AM. In accordance with Gerry’s wishes, please wear green, gold, and white to show your Packer pride!
Gerry and her family would like to thank the kind nurses, doctors, and other staff at ThedaCare At Home Hospice, as well as the warm and inviting community of Brewster Village for all their care and compassion shown to Gerry in her time of need.
