Our husband, dad, and grandpa went home to be with Jesus on Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2024 following a recent lung cancer diagnosis. Mom and Dad laid down for their afternoon nap, and Dad woke up in heaven. Dad was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Richard and Pearl (Yanke) Lamb. He served his country honorably as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38. Dad married Mary Daul on May 25, 1968. Dad worked diligently and provided well for his family, retiring in 2004.
Dad enjoyed fishing, watching the Packers and the Brewers. Most of those who knew Dad experienced his quick-witted humor and one liners. Dad always had room for a bowl of ice cream. Singing in the church choir was special for him, and he loved being a part of his prayer group with Mom. During his last weeks, he would pray for those who came to visit.
Dad loved Mom, us kids, and his grandchildren so very much. He prayed for us daily and hugged and told us he loved us every time we saw him. The past five weeks on hospice care, we as a family were blessed to care for him. We had many special moments with him: talks, prayers, laughter, and tears. We were so well loved by him. We rejoice today knowing Dad is with his Savior, Jesus.
Dad is survived by his wife, Mary; his children: Michael Lamb, Kate McCarthy, Molly (Tom) Wendt; his grandchildren: Ryan McCarthy, Ruby McCarthy, Nadia Wendt, and Fiona Wendt; his brother Jeff Yakaites; his mother-in-law Evelyn Daul; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Doc Yakaites; his brothers: Ken Lamb and Bob Lamb; and his father-in-law Karl Daul.
Dad's funeral service will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Christ the Rock Community Church, W6254 Highway 10/114 in Menasha with Pastor Joel Zeiner officiating. Military Honors will follow. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday morning before the service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
