Formerly of Appleton, age 69, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. George was born on March 21, 1938 in Appleton, the son of the late Wilmer and Myra (Griffith) Rehbein. After high school, George attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, after which he proudly served his country with the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1965. During his military career he completed the Aviation Cadet program and earned a Navigator Rating before flying in an F89 as a Radar Observer. On May 20, 1967 George was united in marriage to Nancy Helms, and they shared 37 years. George earned SRPA and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute and co-founded and co-owned Appraisal Associates. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and an active member of Rotary Club of Appleton, the Ruffed Grouse Society, the Lakewood Cross Country Ski Club, and was also a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Rehbein, Appleton; a brother-in-law, Ray (Mary Margaret) Farabee, Austin Texas, nephews: Steven Farabee, Austin, TX, and David Farabee, Wichita Falls, TX, and their families; former wife, Nancy Rehbein, and her mother, Margaret Helms; aunt, Frieda Benzschawel, Appleton; as well as many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Farabee.

Funeral services for George will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) with Rev. Charles Valenti-Hein officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established, or donations in George's name can be made to a charity of your choosing. Thank you.
