Age 75, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. He was born in Rib Lake, WI on August 12, 1932 the son of the late Lloyd and Agnes (Ruddy) Kettleson. George served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On August 19, 1961 he married his wife of 46 years, Neltia Weisse, in Plymouth, WI. He started his teaching career at New Holstein High School and went on to teach at Manitowoc Technical Institute. He retired from Fox Valley Technical College after 25 years of service. George shared his time and passion with many organizations including: the Americanos, the United Reading for Success Program at Horizons and McKinley, the Appleton Gardens and over 30 years with the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis. He loved to bird watch, especially birds of prey. George was an avid Wisconsin sports enthusiast. His favorite teams included the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He enjoyed his years as a member of the Senior Golf League at Irish Waters. George's favorite pastime was spending an afternoon with his grandchildren, Elise and Angela.
George is survived by his wife, Neltia; children; Craig (Lupe) Kettleson and their children Elise and Angela, all of Madison, Julie (Douglas) Werner of Santa Clara, CA; brothers: Francis (Alene) Kettleson, John (Donna) Kettleson, and David (Alice) Kettleson; and a sister, Ramona (Jack) Nystrom. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Ruth, Alice and Rosanne; and a brother, Raymond.
A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. The inurnment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George Kettleson Memorial Scholarship, Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, 1825 N. Bluemound Dr., Appleton, WI 54912-2277.
