George Anthony Ciuplinski

George A. Ciuplinski, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton, with his family by his side. He was born on April 11, 1947, in Munich, Germany, the son of Saweryn Blazejczyk and Helena Ciuplinski. George was united in marriage to Linda Thurber on December 18, 1976, in Waupaca.

He was a gregarious man, who loved being with people and talking with them. He could relate to everyone, from all walks of life. George was a social butterfly at heart. His favorite holiday was Christmas, he loved everything that came with it; the food, festivities, decorations, and most importantly time spent with family. He had a huge love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They will remember him most for all the lessons learned with him and his humble and appreciative mannerisms. George loved food, but most all, he loved Linda’s cooking.

George enjoyed playing golf, fishing, watching races at WIR, attending EAA, playing cornhole, writing calligraphy, and spending time at the cabin up north. He had an unmatched sweet tooth, that he passed down to the rest of the family, and will affectionately be remembered for always carrying treats with him.

George is survived by his wife of 47 years: Linda; 4 sons: Tony (Heather Vande Voort) Thurber, Marty (Amy Steier) Thurber, Billy (Kendra Drews) Ciuplinski, and Rocky Ciuplinski; grandchildren: Marty, Macey, Khloe, Aubrey, Sylvia, Vince, George, Bryce, Maddie, Phoebe, Zach, and Emilia; great-grandchildren: Mason, Quinn, Zaelyn, Brayden, Kalob, and a great-granddaughter on the way; siblings: Gladys (Chuck) Tollefson and Richard “Chip” Ciuplinski; a cousin: Loretta Conway; Linda’s numerous brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Brandon Thurber.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm, on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. Interment will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Dale Union Cemetery, Dale. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

George’s family would like to invite family and friends to join them at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, at the Medina Playground Park, located on the Northwest Corner of County Road M and Highway 96, for some refreshments and fellowship.

George’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton and everyone else who offered their support during this difficult time.

Dad, you were always such a strong man, and you were up until your last breath. You have left us with so many amazing memories, that we are forever going to cherish. The men we are today is because of you. We will forever hold you in our hearts. Love you forever, Tony, Marty, Billy, & Rocky
