George A. Petrasko

April 17, 1934 — April 19, 2007

George A. Petrasko, age 73, died at his home on Thursday, April 19, 2007. He was born in Middletown, Pennsylvania on April 17, 1934, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Visocky) Petrasko. From 1952 until 1962, George served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, and also served for thirteen years with the 395th Army Ordnance Company. He was employed by various auto dealerships in the area until 1976, at which time he opened his own business, Automotive Tune-Rite, Inc, where he specialized in carburetors of all makes and models. George retired in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking projects, which he called his “relaxing therapy”, the Green Bay Packers, traveling, and his close nieces and nephews. On December 4, 1992, he married the former Karen Ann Woldt, and spent fourteen wonderful years with her. George was a thirty-one year member of the Johnston-Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion, the Appleton Moose Lodge #367 since 1993, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife: Karen Petrasko of Appleton; five brothers-in-law: Dave (Kay) Woldt of Darboy; Michael Woldt of Janesville; Steve (Joan) Woldt of Kaukauna; Mark (Cheri) Woldt of Menasha; and Neil (Leah) Woldt of Kaukauna; two sisters-in-law: Linda (Keith) Hopfensperger of Darboy and Ann (Rick) Smith of Rialto, California; two sisters: Margaret (Sandy) Berg of Superior and Mary Ann (Tom) Frechette of Washburn; three sons: George (Cindy) Petrasko, Jr. of Appleton; Paul (Lynn) Petrasko of Greenville; and Richard (Cheri) Petrasko of Appleton; and a daughter: Catherine Petrasko of Appleton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his great friends at the Moose Lodge.

The funeral liturgy for George will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2007 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1825 N. McDonald Street in Appleton with Fr. Gerald R. Falk officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Full military honors will be given at that time. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service. There will be a Moose Lodge Memorial service at 5:30 PM Monday at the church.
