DELTOUR, GEORGE A., SR.
George A. Deltour, Sr., of Appleton, age 88 years, died on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1919 in Appleton, the son of the late William and Anna (Koepnick) Deltour. George served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved talking about his time in the service and being in France and Germany. He was employed as a truck driver with the City of Appleton for 25 years. George was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Men’s Club. He was also with the Teamster No. 563. On December 22, 1962, he married Beatrice Herbst. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2006.
George was passionate about politics, he loved spending time up north and doing a lot of fishing in his younger years. Grandpa got a kick out of watching wrestling on TV! He will be missed by all his granddaughter “tooties”.
He is survived by his daughters and sons: Rose Ann (Lee) Wilkum, New London; Mary (Les) Wilkum, Appleton; Robert (Debbie) Deltour, Black Creek; Donna Depner, Appleton and Gerry Voigt, Appleton; daughter-in-law: Donna Dominowski, Appleton; 21 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and Beatrice’s grandchildren: Scott, Janet, Kelli, Keith, Cal and Bruce; sister: Mildred (Peter) Killian, Jackson, MI. George was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Geraldine Deltour, step-daughter: Carol (Edwin) Witthuhn, step-son: Jerome Dominowski; son: George Deltour, Jr., brothers: Wilmur and John Deltour: sisters: Angeline (Henry) Lord and Ione (Harold) Van Dinter; niece: Linda Froehlich and granddaughter: Kim Rathsack.
The funeral service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison St., Appleton. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday (tonight) at Wichmann Funeral Home from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
