Age 69, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was born in Neenah on March 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Jay and Florence (Budweiser) Merrill. On May 9, 1964, she married her husband of 45 years, Larry Schmidt. Genny was very active in volunteering including: R.S.V.P., The Thompson Center, Appleton Police Department, and Appleton Medical Center. She will be remembered for being a loving “Grammie.”

Genny is survived by her husband, Larry; sons: James (Lori) Schmidt of Appleton and Brian Schmidt of Appleton; granddaughter, Hailey Schmidt; daughter-in-law: Tracy Schmidt of Appleton; brother and sister: Allen (Sally) Merrill and Nancy John; brother-in-law, Thomas Spilski; brother and sisters-in-law: Sister Cabrini, Joseph (Dolores) Schmidt, Editha Bonneville, Mary Schmidt, Alice Schmidt, and Shirley (Delmar) Henning; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Jim (Elaine), Ken, and Russell Merrill; sister, Colleen Spilski; brothers-in-law, Ramon John, James and Jerry Schmidt; and her cherished dog, Sparky.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Genny's name is being established.
