Gayle Emily Gagnon, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Appleton. She was born on September 5, 1928, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Harry and Esther (Taege) Bornfleth. Gayle graduated from the University of Minnesota and worked for 50+ years as a Medical Laboratory Technician. She was united in marriage to John Leonard Gagnon on June 9, 1951. The couple spent their first three years of marriage in Nuremberg, Germany, where her husband served in the U. S. Army and her son, Craig, was born.

Gayle will be fondly remembered for her kind laugh and smile. She traveled extensively throughout her life, living in Germany, St. Cloud, MN, El Paso, TX, Milwaukee, WI, Waukegan, IL, Camp Hill, PA, and Fort Myers, FL, before moving to Appleton. She was a creative hat maker, biscuit baker, pie maker and Hummel collector. She was also devoted to her family and many friends.

Gayle was preceded in death by her husband: John and is survived by her son: Craig; daughter-in-law: Ann (Berendsen); grandsons: Brian and David; granddaughter-in-law: Courtney (Casey); great grandson: Miles; step-grandchildren: Christopher and Stephanie Slavik; step-great grandchildren: Keaton and Ellison Lauger.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Touchmark Chapel, 2601 Touchmark Dr, Appleton, WI 54914 with Father Bill Switchtenberg officiating. Gayle will be buried alongside her beloved husband at Ft. Snelling National cemetery in Minnesota.
