After a short illness, Gary Theimer went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on December 25, 2018, at the age of 76, with his wife and sons by his side. Gary was born in Appleton on May 23, 1942, son of the late Milton and Gertrude (Maertz) Theimer. He was a graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School and was a car salesman for many years. Gary married the love of his live, Connie Kowalke, on September 19, 1964. He will be remembered as a kind man with a heart of gold who was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. A lifelong member of Riverview Lutheran Church, Gary spent his life loving the Lord and serving as an organist at Riverview. In his free time, Gary enjoyed woodworking, automotive painting and repair, golf, bowling, camping, and vacationing in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years: Connie Theimer; two sons: Gregg (Dawn) Theimer and Jeff (Jonelle) Theimer; seven grandchildren: Kara Heid, Blaise Theimer, Brandon Theimer, Jacob Theimer, Hannah Theimer, Kylee Theimer, and Molly Westphal.
He is further survived by his sister: Carol (Rev. Maurice) Hoppe; three sisters-in-law: Cheryl Theimer, Marlene (Dale) Timm, and Carol (Mike) Talaga; and a brother-in-law: Harry (Deb) Kowalke. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Leon.
The Christian Funeral Service for Gary will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Riverview Lutheran Church, located at 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton, with Rev. Dennis Belter officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the hour of the service.
