Age 78, passed away peacefully at Appleton Medical Center on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. He was born in Kaukauna on April 7, 1929 the son of the late Frederick and Louise (Vanden Bloomer) Vander Bloomen. Fred was proud to serve in the United States Navy in 1946 and served on the U.S.S. Kersarge. He married his wife of 56 years, Jean Servaes in Kaukauna on October 20, 1951. Fred worked for the Kaukauna Electric and Water Department (Kaukauna Utilities) and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Fred enjoyed playing the keyboard, the accordian, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed gardening and raising animals. His family was very important to him, including spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of Honda Goldwings with side cars, being a “jack of all trades,” and being a jokester.
Fred is survived by his wife, Jean; children: Dale Vander Bloomen of Kaukauna; Lori (Greg) Welhouse of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Mindy and Tracy Vander Bloomen and Alicia Welhouse, all of Kaukauna; sisters: Alma (Tony) Gazzanna of West Allis, Lucille Hopfensperger of Eugene, Oregon; Jane (Emil) St. John of Kaukauna; and Joan (Joseph) Lewandowski of Kimberly, and daughter-in-law, Sue Allgeyer of Kaukauna. He is preceded in death by his son, James Vander Bloomen on November 13, 1996; brothers and sisters: Floyd and Richie Vander Bloomen, Alice (Bob) Nack, Carol (Lawrence) Van Cuyk, and Gerald (Marie) Vanden Bloomen.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Fargo Funeral Home, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kaukauna.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Wolfmeyer (retired), Dr. Gustafson, Dr. Danz, Dr. Russo and the staff at Kaukauna Clinic for their care and concern for Fred over so many years.

Beloved husband, brother, father and grandpa, thank you for the many lessons, laughs and memories. You will be forever in our hearts. May God keep you in his loving care until we may all be together again in His Kingdom.
