Frederick A. Hiebing

September 12, 1934 — June 19, 2002

Frederick A. Hiebing ''Fritz''
Menasha

Loving husband, father, grandfather, age 67, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 following a yearlong battle with cancer. Frederick was born in
Sheboygan, WI, on September 12, 1934, son of the late George and Ida(Winterburg) Hiebing. On December 15, 1955, he married June De Groot in
Oakland, CA, and they have enjoyed 46 years of marriage together. Frederick served his country during the Korean War. He founded a water proofing business; Perma-Way, which he owned with his son Greg for 36 years. Frederick loved to putter and tinker in his tool shed, and could create anything that was needed. He also loved to camp, and would ''add magic to the fire'' to
entertain his grandchildren. Frederick enjoyed feeding his birds, and building an extensive bungee cord collection with contributions from
his family. He is survived by his wife June; his 4 children, Gregory T. Hiebing; Cynthia J. (Theodore) Heegeman; Pamela S. (Jay) Cornell; Toni L. (Lonnie) Meinke; his sister, Charlotte Kovacic; 2 brothers, John and Tom; 7
grandchildren, Tyler Frederick Heegeman; Lauren Cornell; Trenton Heegeman; Abigail Cornell; Hayden, Alec and Justine Meinke; 2 sisters-in-law, Ceil and Betty Hiebing; and his brother-in-law, Russell (Suzie) Rowland. He is further survived by many cousins, other relatives, dear friends and the Home School Group. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00
a.m., on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 East Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Daniel C. Gilsdorf officiating. The interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, June 21 from 5 until 8 p.m., and again at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The family
would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice and Appleton Medical Center Cancer Center, especially his special nurse Linda and Dr. Phillips, for their love and support. Frederick was very creative, hard working man who
provided well for his family, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. If love alone could keep someone alive, you would live forever. You will be in our hearts always.

We are standing upon the seashore. A ship at our side spreads his white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. He is an object of beauty and strength. We stand and watch him until at length he hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and the sky mingle with each other. Then, someone at our side says: ''There his is gone! Gone where?'' Gone from our sight. That is all. He is just as large in mast and hull and spar as he was when he left our side and his is just as able to bear his load of living freight to his destined port. His diminished size is in us, not in him. And just as the moment when someone at our side says: ''There he is gone!'' there are other eyes watching him coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ''Here he comes!''
