Fred H. Hubley

Fred Hubley, age 73, died on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a brief struggle with prostate cancer. Fred was born on May 18, 1932 in Chippewa Falls, son of the late Henry and Lucille (Chartrand) Hubley. He attended grade school and high school there and went on to graduate from UW Stevens Point in 1955. On August 1, 1959 he married Barbara Copps in Stevens Point. Fred served his country in the United States Army, and was based in Fort Sam Houston, Texas in the late 1950's. Fred worked as a claims adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau from 1956 to 1971, at which time he purchased what became Hubley Insurance Services. Fred sold the business to Babbitt-Sholund Insurance in 1994 and continued working there for many years. In addition to his passion for hunting and fishing, Fred loved to downhill ski, golf and watch the Packers play. Fred was active in the community having volunteered as a driver for FISH. He served as an ACES board member and had participated in the Fox Valley Catholic Bible Study Group for over twenty years. Since 1972, Fred had been an active member of Downtown Rotary Club, serving as its president from 1989-1990. He was subsequently recognized for his contributions by being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by his club.

Fred is survived by his wife Barbara and their four children: Cathy (Tony) Arnerich of Fort Collins, Colorado; Patty Hubley of Dolores, Colorado; Fred (Carrie) Hubley of Appleton; Peg (Graham) Wright of St. Paul, Minnesota. There are four grandchildren: Laura, Amanda, and Jessica Hubley, and Simon Arnerich. He is further survived by his sister Betty Couture of Saginaw, Michigan, and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral liturgy for Fred will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, corner of Morrison Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton with Father William Hoffman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 4:00 PM. Visitation will conclude with a brief prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established for the Prostate Cancer Research Institute and the ACES Xavier Forward in Faith Campaign.

The family would like to thank the angels at Cherry Meadows who cared for Fred.
