Frank Cornelius Mueller, 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Frank was born on October 13, 1934, in Sheboygan to the late Roy and Evelyn (Cornelius) Mueller.
Frank graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1952 and attended Lakeland College. He married the love of his life, Viva Jean Oppeneer on December 5, 1953. Frank was a born salesman; he started at a young age selling Christmas cards, newspapers, cookware, vacuums, encyclopedias and even had his own soda beverage business. He worked for Morning Glory Dairy for 15 years in a management capacity and Zaug’s Vending for 26 years where he retired as the Executive Vice President of Sales. He owned a Manpower franchise, multiple apartment buildings, and partnered in several commercial businesses.
Frank was an active member of the Appleton Jaycees, where he assisted in establishing the Miss Appleton Pageant and served as the Director of the Soap Box Derby. Frank was also a member of the Appleton Downtown Rotary for 38 years. Frank was an active and long-time member of the SHRM (Society of Human Resources Management) Chapter of Appleton. He was also a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Frank is survived by his children Toni (John) Schnorr, Pam (Jerry) Wirth, Roy (Connie) Mueller, Fran Collins, and Jake (special friend Kim Spoden) Mueller: his grandchildren Andy and David Schnorr, Amy Brandenburg, Trevor Wirth (Erica), Kristi (Todd) Fischer, Bryan (Katie) Mueller, Michael (Ashley) Mueller, Christine (Pat Duffey) Altermatt, Michelle (Jason Bobsein) Altermatt, Taylor (special friend Mason Meyer) Collins, Alicia (Mike) Vande Ven, Katie (Matt) Peters and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Diane (Carl) Weber and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife Viva Jean, his sister Fay Thimmig, an infant brother Paul Mueller and brother-in-law Richard (Julie) Oppeneer.
The funeral service for Frank will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E. Calumet St. in Appleton with Reverend Roger McQuistion officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or The American Heart Association.
A special thanks to Frank’s dear friend Lucy Swiecichowski who was a wonderful and loving companion and to Lucy’s family who welcomed Frank into their lives and spent countless hours visiting with him. Frank last lived at Primrose Retirement Community where he received special care from the staff and companionship from his fellow residents.
