Frank Gabriel passed away at his home in Appleton on Tuesday evening, March 28, 2006. Frank was born in Appleton on September 3, 1927, son of the late Frank and Sophia (Kloehn) Gabriel. Frank spent his entire life in the area, and was employed for many years as a Senior Accountant for the Appleton Supply Company. Frank was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army, and those who knew Frank, knew of his love for music of all kinds, especially vocal music. He was also an expert of the Big Band Era, and was wonderful source of information regarding all things music. Those who were the beneficiaries of his many philanthropic pursuits will remember Frank for his generosity, as well.
He is survived by a sister: Rosemary Beson of New London; seven nieces and nephews: Thomas Beson of Menasha and his fiancée Aimee; James Beson of Menasha; Laura (David) Kussart of New London; Maryann (Leo) Michels of New London; Judson Fowler of Neenah; Gordon Fowler of Menasha; and Sue Wynboom of Ft. Myers, Florida. There are also numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Frank also leaves behind many dear friends including his trusted advisor Jerome Block, a lifelong friend Delmar Henning, and his comrades-in-song Bruce Koestner and Katherine Hamm. As many of you know, Frank “held court” at George’s Restaurant each and every Friday night, and he will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances there. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen Fowler, a brother Thomas Gabriel in the service of his country, and nephews Edward Beson and Peter Beson.
The funeral liturgy for Frank will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton with Fr. Brian Belongia officiating.
