“Bud”

Frank J. Cumber, age 82, of Appleton, died on Saturday, February 11, 2006, at his home. Bud was born in Appleton on September 3, 1923, to the late Frank J. and Elsie (Zuehlke) Cumber. He married Ruby Hall in Appleton on May 18, 1942; she preceded him in death on December 3, 1979. Bud married Edna Lenz Wetzel on April 16, 1983. He was employed at Appleton Papers for over 39 years, retiring in 1985. Bud was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Appleton Papers and also enjoyed deer hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Edna; his daughters, Judy Flanagan, Appleton; Sharon (Lawrence) Grunert, Menasha; Bonnie (Fred) Harkner, Merrill; and Donna (Ceddrick) Hunter, Gillett; his brothers, Melvin Cumber, New London; and Harold (Mary) Cumber, New London; his sister, Shirley Beyer, New London; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Bud is further survived by his brother-in-law, Ernie Frederickson and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cumber, Josephine Giese and Helen Hall. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his daughter Shirley; his sisters, Evelyn Olson, Virginia Olson, Marcella Stilen, Rosemary Surprise, and Alice Frederickson; his brothers, Charles, Donald and Marvin Cumber.

Funeral services will at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Friends may call directly at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mary O’Brien of ThedaCare at Home Hospice for her loving care.
