Francis E. Markham

Francis E. Markham, age 92 of Appleton, passed away at home on Friday, November 13, 2020.

Francis was born on March 19, 1928 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Earl and Emma (Maves) Markham. He grew up on the family farm and attended St. Joseph’s School. He married Virginia Patocka on June 3, 1961 in Enid, Oklahoma, ultimately living in Menomonie while raising two sons. Francis worked for his brother Joe hauling milk and spent 25 years working for Cenex, retiring in 1990.

When he was able, Francis enjoyed walking and riding his bike. He was a constant “tinkerer” always looking for house and yard projects; he also enjoyed spending time with Virginia relaxing and watching a few old westerns.

Francis will be remembered as a hardworking man of great dedication and devotion. His family benefitted by his love and care, as Francis would do anything he possibly could to provide for their needs. Now it is his time to rest and enjoy the glory of our God.

Francis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia, two sons, Charles (MaryAnn) Markham and Roger Markham; three grandchildren, Laura (Louis), Joshua (Kelsey), and Marissa; three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Felicity, and Felix and one sister, Alice Evenson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Florence Clickner and brother, Joe Markham.
