Frances Paschen passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2013, the morning of her 99th birthday. Frances was born on the family farm in Redgranite, Wisconsin on September 28, 1914, daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Rodencal) Roggow. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1932, and then took secretarial classes. Frances met her future husband, Howard Paschen, at a big band concert at Waverly Beach Ballroom, where they both loved to dance. They were married on June 7, 1941 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton, and shared fifty-seven wonderful years together before his death in 1998. They resided in Kaukauna their entire married lives, and Frances worked as a legal secretary for the McCarty Law Firm, and the Burns Law Firm.
Frances was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ where she chaired many committees, a lifetime member of the Kaukauna Lady Elks Club, and a charter member of the Fox Valley Golf Club. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and was a very talented artist – she did beautiful stitchery and craft projects.
She is survived by her niece: Gail (Harvey) Jansen of Tucson, Arizona; her nephews: James (Sharon) Rammer of Menasha; John Rammer of Appleton; and Craig (Grazyna) Stockmeier of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and several grand nieces and nephews, including Christina and Lauren who had a special bond with Frances. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Harold, and her sisters-in-law: Ruth (Joseph) Rammer and Alice (Rev. Leonard) Stockmeier; and a niece Mary Alice Rammer.
Funeral services for Frances will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 510 Sullivan Avenue in Kaukauna, with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
The family would like to offer their thanks to everyone at St. Paul Home (Apple Tree Court) for their unfailing love and care for Frances during her last years. Thanks also to Brian Schmidt for his caring support of Frances following Howard's death. We will never forget your love, kindness, and compassion.
Frances loved the Handbell Choir at Immanuel Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established to support the bells.
