Florian W. Neuman

Age 75, passed away Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice. Buff was born in Appleton on January 29, 1929, son of the late Harvey and Bonita (Agen) Neuman. Following his graduation from the Appleton High School in 1946, he entered the United States Navy where he served for two years. For thirty-five years, Florian was employed as a flexographic pressman for American Can Company. On October 11, 1952, he married the former Nancy Bunker at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Menasha; she survives. During his time with American Can, he left Appleton in 1965 to supervise the pressroom at a new plant in Des Moines Iowa. In 1985, he retired and returned to Appleton. At that time, he joined the work force at Curwood in New London for six additional years. Florian was a member of the Neenah Lodge B.P.O.E. and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, trips to the Oneida casino, and the company of his loyal dog, Bobbie. As a young man, Florian even learned to fly an airplane.

Survivors include his wife: Nancy Neuman of Appleton; a daughter: Barb (David) DeGard of Appleton and their daughters Margaret and Elizabeth; a sister: Sandra Walbrun of Menasha; three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne and Vilas, four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services for Florian will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kurt Kovanen and Rev. Mary Beth Kovanen of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the services.

Thanks also to our wonderful neighbor, Mary Ann, for all of her kind words, support, and assistance in the past weeks. We will never forget your kindness.
