Florence D. Stevenson, age 87, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. Florence was born July 23, 1917, in Forest Junction, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late William and Wilhelmina (Hacker) Knoespel. Florence has been an Appleton resident since 1936, and married Marvin Stevenson on August 16, 1945. He preceded her in death in October, 1981.

Prior to her retirement, Florence was employed with Schreiter Auto Supply for eight years, and with August Winter and Sons for fourteen years. She was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, participating in their choir and Ladies Circle. Florence was a member of the Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary and spent many hours volunteering at the hospital.

Survivors include her sister, Gladys Oskey, of Williamsburg, Virg.; her brother, Roy (Lois) Knoespel, of Brillion; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Knoespel, of Green Bay, Doris Knoespel, of Brillion, Dolores Knoespel, of Green Bay, Esther Knoespel, of Menasha, and Margaret Hardacker and Phyllis Stevenson, both of Appleton; two very special nieces, Beverly Duchlow, of Williamsburg, Virg., and Debra Eichten, of Westford, Mass; Bob and Peg Stevenson, of Combined Locks, who helped her very much; and many other nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hattie Bublitz and Mabel Webster, and her brothers, Herbert, Harold, Clarence, Allen, Willard, and Dwane Knoespel.

Funeral services for Florence will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 21, 2005, at EMMANUAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 740 East College Avenue, Appleton, with Revs. Mark Geisthardt and Lynn Kollath officiating. Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services Monday directly at the church. Memorials in Florence’s name may be sent to Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
