Evelyn "Evie" Wyngard-Schuh (Capelle) of Appleton, WI joined her Lord and Savior on December 26, 2024. She was born February 17, 1940, in Neenah, WI to Richard and Lucille Capelle. Evie grew up in Neenah, where she fell in love with James Wyngard. They were married on November 29, 1958, and together raised four children: Randy (Pam) Wyngard, Jeff (Joann) Wyngard, Jackie (Bill) Korth, and Marty (Carmen) Wyngard.
Jim sadly passed in 2012. Then in 2016, Evie fell in love again in what some might say was divinely guided by the spirit world. While vacationing in Florida at The Villages with an old friend, Dan Schuh came to visit, and sparks flew. Evie and Dan married in September 2021, embarking on a new chapter of love and companionship.
Evie is survived by her husband Dan Schuh; her children, Randy (Pam) Wyngard, Jeff (JoAnn) Wyngard, Jackie (Bill) Korth, and Marty (Carmen) Wyngard; Dan's children, Greg (Sandy) Schuh, Dennis (Lynn) Schuh, and Gary (Leah) Schuh; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; cousins; and siblings-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wyngard; her parents, Richard and Lucille Capelle; her parents-in-law, Martin and Lillian Wyngard; and many other beloved family members.
Who Was Mom?
She was a remarkable woman who would help anyone in need. Fiercely protective and always ready for a good story or juicy romance novel. She was a true force of nature. She had a green thumb, cultivating a love of nature in her children and grandchildren and split her Christmas Cactus over generations. Mom welcomed everyone into her heart and home, making them feel like family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren found pure joy in her presence, whether climbing trees, raiding the candy drawer, or simply soaking up her love.
Everyone saw our mom as a hero, a woman of unshakable determination and drive. She loved her work at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she dedicated 40 years of her life, forging lifelong friendships and helping countless people. Evie’s career started in Physical Therapy, she advanced to Rehab and Facilities, becoming the "command center" of operations. She also served on the St. Elizabeth Credit Union board and worked closely with the nuns, especially Sister Geretie. Evie was instrumental in launching the "Meals on Wheels" program, which continues to serve the Fox Cities community today. Mom was known for her smile and her laugh could light up any room.
Evie had the joy of being loved by two extraordinary men. Jim, our father, shared her love of family, camping trips, boating on Lake Winnebago, and adventures at the farm (Aunt Dorothy’s & Uncle George). Dan embraced everything Evie loved. Together, they played endless cribbage games, took trips to the casino, and gardening. Dan built mom plant boxes for her beautiful flowers, and a giant bird feeder so they could watch the birds, squirrels and deer come to their yard.
As many have said, "Evie gave the best hugs." She was beautiful, funny, and endlessly kind. Mom, we will miss your kisses and hugs forever and a day. Until we meet again, we will hold you in our hearts.
Love,
Your Family
