Formerly from Hortonville, WI and now Care Partner, Appleton, WI. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 103.
She was born on February 9, 1915 in Hollandtown, WI, the daughter of the late Theodore Gerrits and Petronella VanVreede. She went to St. John’s School in Little Chute and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1933. On August 9, 1935, Evelyn married David Keller, Sr. in Chilton, WI at St. Augustine Church and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until David passed away in 1997. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish since 1972.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making beaded ornaments, playing cards, dominoes, bingo, dancing and traveling and just visiting with family and friends. She formerly worked as a Secretary for Central Mutual Insurance Co. from 1958-1972. She was Secretary/Treasurer for Keller Roofing and Siding and Keller’s Dugout all in Hortonville. She also worked for 5 years at Lawrence University before retiring.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Treiber and friend Russ Schumal-Pickerel, Jeanne and Doug Forbeck-Little Chute, three sons Wayne and Sue Keller-Random Lake, Merlin and Joan Keller-Appleton, and David Keller Jr. and friend Dyan Hortonville, and one brother Donald Gerrits-Fond du Lac and sister-in-law Fran Beckmann -Kiel.
Evelyn is survived by 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Henry Gerrits Jr and Bardine Vanderloop, maternal grandparents, Henry VanVreede and Mary Arts, parents Theodore and Petronella Gerrits, husband David Sr., son Duane, son-in-law Edward (Tom) Treiber, sisters and brother-in-laws Ethel and Dan Dupler Sr., Hilda and Clarence Veit, Bernice and Elmer Leonhard, Betty and Allen Slater, and sister-in-law Edith Gerrits.
The Funeral Liturgy for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton, with Father Jon Thorsen officiating. Friends may come to church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church are appreciated.
