Evelyn A. Burroughs, age 87, died Saturday morning, October 15, 2005, at Rennes Health Center, following a long illness. She was born September 18, 1918, in Milwaukee. At the age of eight she was adopted by the late Lydia E. (Worchel) and Edward O. Hillert and resided in Grafton, WI, until her entrance to Lawrence University in 1936. Mrs. Burroughs graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, with a B. S. degree in English. She taught high school English in Cadott, Owen, Marshfield and at Appleton High Schools from 1955 to 1974. Evelyn married Jack C. Burroughs in 1942; he preceded her in death in August, 1974. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by siblings and several nieces. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by siblings. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at the funeral home, with Reverends Kurt Kovanen and Mary Beth Kovanen officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 am, Tuesday, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
