Age 87, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Manor Care in Appleton. He was born on January 25, 1915 in Iron Mountain, Michigan the son of the late John and Rose (Balsam) Lloyd. After graduating from Iron Mountain High School, he graduated from Penglase Business College in Iron Mountain. On June 20, 1940 he married Martha Thompson in Iron Mountain. He served his country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during WW II in the Aleutian Islands for 17 months. Mr. Lloyd began employment with the Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company on September 7, 1937 as junior clerk and teller in the Accounting Department. After a series of promotions he became the assistant manager of the Northern Division. In 1966 he was elected by the Board of Directors to the position of assistant secretary-treasurer of the Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company, and assumed his new position in Appleton. He retired in 1977. Mr. Lloyd enjoyed skiing, golfing, bowling, and traveling and was active in the Appleton Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife Martha of Appleton, three children and five grandchildren: John T. Lloyd and his children David Lloyd and Ryan (Valerie) Lloyd all of Portland, Oregon; Mary (Tom) Keefe, and their children Amy Keefe all of Appleton, Tom II (Jill) Keefe of Minneapolis, and Jennifer (Rob) Jablonski of Vista, California; Anne (Jim) Alexander of Cardiff, California; a great grandson Tyler Jablonski of Vista, California one sister Mary Hogberg of Dayton, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John, an infant daughter Susan, and a daughter-in-law Gretchen Lloyd.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, April 1, 2002 at 11:00 AM at ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 400 East College Avenue with the Rev. Patrick Twomey officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital and may be directed to Allzheimers Association, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707, or the Alzheimer’s Association; and may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter, 1725 Dousman Street, Green Bay, WI 54303.
