Eunice V. Johnson

Eunice Verna Johnson, 97, passed away peacefully April 15, 2025, at Brewster Village in Appleton. Eunice was born November 12, 1927, in the Town of Wellington, Monroe County, Wisconsin to Vernie and Margaret (Kisser) Clair. She graduated from Wilton High School and completed a secretarial course in La Crosse. On June 18, 1946, she married Leland Johnson at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Town of Wellington. They made their home in Waukesha. Eunice began her career as a legal secretary in the 1950’s working for several Waukesha law offices. From 1976 to her retirement in 1988, she worked at the Milwaukee law firm of Whyte & Hirschboeck as secretary to the president. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, bridge clubs, walking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Eunice is survived by children Jacqueline (Timothy) McAvoy and Terrence (Donna Morrison) Johnson. She was loving grandmother to Brendon (Karissa) McAvoy, Kieran (Aaron Gnas) McAvoy, Devin McAvoy and Maighread (Derek Palecek) McAvoy. She is also remembered by 7 great grandchildren. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerhard (Georgene) Clair, former husband Leland Johnson and grandson Brian (Sierra) McAvoy.

A memorial service for Eunice will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Wichmann Tri County Chapel, located at 1592 Oneida Street in Fox Crossing. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. She will be placed to rest at South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wellington, at a later date.
