Ethel E. Miller

December 30, 1904 — August 8, 2001

Age 96, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2001 at Oakridge Garden Nursing Center in Menasha. She was born on December 30, 1904 in the town of Grand Chute, the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Stark) Rogers. Ethel married George W. Miller on September 1, 1926 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton; he preceded her in death on May 9, 1968. Ethel was a long time member of First Congregation UCC and Circle Eight, and also served the church in many other capacities. She liked playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans and slippers. She was also a great cook. Ethel is survived by two sons, Gilbert (Cecilia) Miller, Appleton and Marvin (Barbara) Miller, Madison; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Thiel, Appleton and Dorothy Krull, Neenah, also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by two brothers, Harley and Arnold Rogers and two sisters, Fran Reitzner and Mildred Miller, and one granddaughter, Kristine Coffey.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jane Weeden officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 until the time of service (11:00 a.m.). Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the First Congregational UCC, 724 East South River Street, Appleton.
A special thank you to the staff of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for the loving care and support they have given to Ethel and the family over the years.
