Age 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. She was born on February 29, 1908 in Brussels, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Henry and Jennie (Bouche) Zephirin. On October 2, 1927 she married Elmer VanderMause in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Brussels. He passed away in February of 1949. Mrs. VanderMause lived in Wisconsin all of her life and in Appleton since 1946. She owned and operated a grocery store for several years and later worked for H. C. Prange Co. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton.
She is survived by her son: Gary (Judy) VanderMause; her daughter-in-law Mary VanderMause all of Fort Atkinson; her eight grandchildren: John VanderMause of Watertown, Wisconsin, Sue Holler, Tom (Tricia), David (Jill), and Karen (Mark) Nelson all of Fort Atkinson, Ron (Carla) of Neenah, Mark (Lisa), and Julie (Jay) Sass all of Madison; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; a sister Madeline (Herman) Neinas of Brussels; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son James.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, November 10, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St Mary Catholic Church, 312 South State Street in Appleton with the Rev. Michael O’Rourke officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Appleton. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. A memorial fund is being established.
