Esther Kempen, 89, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
Esther was born on November 16, 1928 to John and Mary (Ellenbecker) Jochman. Esther graduated from Appleton High School in 1946. On August 27, 1949 she married Don Kempen. Esther was a hard worker. She had many jobs at Zwicker Mills, Kimberly Clark Paper Mill, Scolding Locks and retiring from Lawrence University. Esther was a faithfilled person helping out at Holy Name Christian Mothers, church cleaning and homebound parish ministry. Her mittens, hats and booties are worn by many. Her beautiful knitted gifts were freely given, as were her delicious caramels. She loved her family, girlfriends, casino trips and card playing.
Esther is survived by her children; Gary (Becky) Kempen, Susan (John) Calmes, Kay Kempen, Kris (Bruce) Le Noble, six grandchildren, Trisha (Mark) Tetzlaff, Casey (Mary Moore) Calmes, Abby (Randy) Pynenberg, and Luke (Brooke Ellingson) Vanden Heuvel, Amie (Mitch) Blanchette, and Megan (Ross Juen) LeNoble; four great granddaughters, Emily, Eliana and Elizabeth Tetzlaff, and Autumn Pynenberg; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Bill Anderson and sister Ruth Brantmeier, sister-in-law Margaret Jochman a brother-in-law Richard Nichols, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; her three brothers Alfred, Robert and David, and three sisters Eleanor, Helen and Nancy.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
