Ernestine “Tina” Jakubek, age 92, of Menasha, passed away on April 23, 2021. Tina was born on September 14, 1928 in Neenah to the late Joseph and Theresa Holzinger. She was a graduate of Neenah High School. On May 27, 1947 she married Joseph “Jake” Donald Jakubek and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2001. Tina had a strong Catholic faith and for most of her life, she attended daily Mass. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was an active member of the Rosary Society as well as volunteering in her Parish. She enjoyed working around the yard, and in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also loved to knit and crochet. Tina and Jake were known for the awesome wine and sauerkraut they made as well.
Family was very important to Tina. Sunday dinners with family were a regular event, and she loved to cook and bake for everyone. Tina and Jake also loved spending time at the family cabin near Silver Cliff, Wisconsin.
She will be missed by her children: Michael (sp. friend Sharon) Jakubek, Nancy (Dick) Burrows, Mary (Norm) Hodgson, Bill (Joanne) Jakubek, Joe (fiance’ Sharon Hansen) Jakubek, grandchildren: Jennifer (Andy) McNulty, Jason Jakubek, Sara (Jake) Hodgson, and Matt (Molly) Jakubek, Don (Carolyn) Pieper, Bryan (Michelle) Porto, Kevin (Jina) Porto and Teresa (fiancé Tim) Porto, Jordan Jakubek and Trevor Jakubek, Maria (John) Abrahamson, Anna (sp. friend Jonathan) Jakubek, and Anthony Jakubek, great-grandchildren: Jack, Charlie, Abbi, Hudson, Nolan, Brooklyn, Cecelia, Lucille, Frank, Alec, Benjamin, Lillian, Isaac, and Lorenzo as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph “Jake” Jakubek, daughter-in-law Deborah Jakubek, and one sister Marie Fink.
Mass of Christian Burial for Tina will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Saturday before Mass at St. John’s from 9:00am to 11:00am. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery of Menasha. The family would like to thank Terri and the staff of Frontida Assisted Living in Kimberly for their kindness and compassion, and for making mom feel at home while she was there. Also, a special thank you and sincere gratitude for the care provided by Compassus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in Tina’s name. Donations will be used to help fund Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
