Emma Feistel passed peacefully into the arms of her waiting Lord on Tuesday morning, June 12, 2007 at Franciscan Care Center in Appleton. Emma was 97. She was born Emma Beyer on September 25, 1909 in Freedom, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Stapel) Beyer. On July 27, 1935, Emma married Erwin “Erv” Feistel at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Center; he preceded her in death in 1991. Many will remember Emma as “the” cook in the kitchen at Appleton Memorial Hospital (AMC) for many years. She was also a longtime and faithful member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church of Appleton and its Ladies Aide.
Emma is survived by a sister-in-law: Clara Beyer of Appleton; and several nieces and nephews: Ralph (Carol) Sievert, Mel (Karen) Sievert, Ervin (Bonnie) Klesmit, Mark (Maria) Beyer, Jim (Sharon) Beyer, Clarence (Sally) Beyer, Jr., Kris (Jim) Abitz, Kathleen (Bill) Rickert, and John (Rose) Beyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Erv Feistel in 1991, a sister Leona (Carlton) Sievert, and a brother Clarence Beyer.
Rev. Mark Henke of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate at a private Christian Funeral for Emma later this week, and entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund in Emma’s name has been established.
