Emily A Comeau, age 87, Appleton, passed away on October 13, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1937, to the late Leo and Emilia Pehler in Arcadia, Wisconsin.
Emily graduated from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse in 1955. Before graduation she was literally swept off her feet by Roger Comeau during a high school musical rehearsal. Emily and Roger were married on June 18, 1961, in La Crescent, MN. She worked in health care and insurance until Roger volunteered and was commissioned in the United States Army in 1964. She went to Japan with him, and they returned in 1966. Roger and Emily then moved to Appleton where Roger began the first oral surgery practice here with Dr. Roger Mosher and Emily raised their family. In 1975, Roger had a diving accident that left him with a spinal cord injury. Emily was his primary caregiver for over 45 years. Her commitment to his care, their marriage and her family inspired everyone around her. She was always happy to find a way to make Roger’s dreams a reality and truly was a model for selfless love. After he passed away in 2021, she indulged in her passions of following the stock market and politics. She kept up on current events and was devoted to televised daily Mass and the rosary.
Emily is survived by her children Leslie (Alan) Stewart, Paul (Wendy) Comeau, grandchildren Nathaniel, Patrick and Melanie Stewart and Laura and Marian Comeau. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law Glen (Jeanette) and Alan, their families and the extended Pehler family.
There will be a funeral Mass for Emily on Friday October 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton. There will be a visitation on Friday October 25, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton.

We would also like to thank the Sacred Heart staff and our friends for all of your kindness and support.
