Age 85, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Elvin was born in Omro, Wisconsin on November 24, 1916, son of the late Albert and Dorothea (Engel) Schultz. On October 5, 1946, he married the former Geraldine Heinz in Kaukauna; she survives.

Elvin was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Elvin was known for his love of horses, which he trained, worked with, and enjoyed his whole life. Spending time with his family was important to Elvin. He enjoyed playing cribbage, poker, gardening, and telling comical stories.

Elvin is survived by his wife of fifty-five years: Geraldine Schultz of Kaukauna; two sons: Robert (Darlene) Schultz of Appleton and Ric (Tara) Schultz of Darboy; five daughters: Berne (Gary) Steffens of Little Chute; Kathleen (Rick) Otis of Hortonville; Mary Schultz of Neenah; Betty (Ed) Manske of Neenah; Dorri Knaack of Appleton; grandchildren: Brian Schultz, Adam Schultz, Aaron (Angela) Steffens, Amy (Brian) Weyenberg, Roberta (Greg) Lamb, Jenny (Roger) Wagner, Jason Otis, Rebecca Manske, Ben Manske, Zac Schultz, and Jordan Schultz; two great-grandchildren: Alexica Schultz and Julia Kathleen Otis.

Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Joseph, a grandson Ryan Manske, sisters Ruth Broxma, Hazel (Art) Miller, Avis (Francis) Robedeaux, and a brother Russell (Ann) Schultz.

The funeral liturgy will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2002, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 West Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m.

The family extends a special thank you to the second floor staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital and to the compassionate caregivers at Cherry Meadows Hospice. A memorial fund is being established.
