Age 94, died on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Fox River Assisted Living and Memory Care Community. Elton was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI on August 16, 1913, the youngest child of the late Hans and Ida (Anderson) Halverson.

After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1931, Elton attended both the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. On June 24, 1942 Elton married Evelyn Mae Bohman, enjoying 46 years of marriage until her death in 1989.

Elton spent the majority of his life living in Sturgeon Bay and Appleton, WI. Elton was employed as an automobile parts manager, working at Al Rudolf Motors for 26 years. He was also employed at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay where he retired at the age of 72 in 1985.

Elton will be remembered as a fiery competitor while playing football, basketball and baseball as a younger man and then golf, croquet and cards in his later years. He loved his family very much and enjoyed family cook outs. He took great pride in his flower gardens.

Elton is survived by three sons and a daughter: James (Sandi) Halverson of Appleton, Donald (Ann) Halverson of Turah, MT, Robert (Meta) Halverson of Turah, MT, and Lori (Richard) Fahrenholz of Appleton. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; grandson, Benjamin Halverson; parents, Hans and Ida Halverson; and four brothers and a sister.

A private celebration and burial will take place at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay at a later date. The family requests that any donations extended in Elton's memory be directed to the Alzheimer Association of Greater Northeastern Wisconsin, Attn: Alzheimer Research, 2900 Curry Lane, Suite A, Green Bay, WI 54311.

The family wishes to thank the staff from the Memory Care Unit at Fox River Assisted Living for their kindness and compassion shown to Elton during his three years of residence there.
