KNOLL, ELSIE T. (nee SCHAFERS)

Elsie Knoll, age 88 years, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Cullman, Alabama to the late Henry and Rose (Lemmers) Schafers on February 14, 1918. At the age of three, the Schafers family moved to Wisconsin. Elsie married Edward G. Knoll on June 14, 1947 and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1976. She was a former employee at the Conway Hotel.
Elsie was a very loving and generous mother. She always provided for others, but did not want anything in return. She modeled religious virtues and service to others. Mother enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, jelly-making and soap making.
Elsie is survived by her five children: Barbara (Peter) Truttmann of Greenville, Robert (Betty) Knoll of Neenah, Mary (Frank) Ahacic of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Knoll of Appleton and Donna Knoll of Madison; grandchildren: Brian Truttmann, Thomas Knoll and James Knoll; sisters: Susie Bennett of Chula Vista, CA, Mary (Royal) Burkhardt of Springfield, VA and Claire Huter of Marengo, IL; sisters-in-law: Edna Barker and Thelma Vorachek both of Menominee, MI and Mabel Schafer of Wild Rose. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many first cousins in Cullman, AL.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, three brothers: Gregory, Leo and Eugene Schafers, her sister Magdalene and many brothers-in-law.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 15, 2006 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Wichmann Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Friday at the Church from 9:30 am until the time of mass. A memorial fund is being established.
The children of Elsie Knoll are very grateful to the staff at Century Oaks – Margaret House for taking care of our mother over the past two months.
