ELSA KELLER MELHORN

Age 94, passed away Friday, January 18, 2002, at Peabody Manor, Appleton. Elsa was born on August 7, 1907, in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Albert Galloway and Caroline Louise Keller. She married Nathan Raymond Melhorn in 1935, sharing 52 years of marriage in Haddonfield, New Jersey, until his death in 1987. Elsa graduated from Yale University School of Music in 1929 and taught piano until 1995. She was a founding board member of the Haddonfield (NJ) Symphony and a patron of the fine arts, establishing funds at the Brandywine Museum and Conservancy (PA), the Lyme (CT) Academy of Fine Arts, and the Davis Center, Harvard University.
She is survived by her son Nathan Richmond Melhorn, Chelmsford, MA; her daughter, Caroline Brandenberger (John R. Brandenberger), Appleton; grandsons: David Brandenberger (Ekaterina Dianina), Cambridge, MA; and Philip Brandenberger, New York City; and two nephews, Deane G. Keller (Dorothy), Hartford, CT; and William B. Keller (Judy), Wayne, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Deane and Caroline Keller, her brother and sister.
A memorial service and burial will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
