Age 51, of Appleton passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at her home following a longtime struggle with a muscular disease. She was born on October 2, 1953 in Appleton the daughter of Frank and Helen (Woods) Calmes. On October 27, 1979 she married Alan Gjerald at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Appleton. Ellen was employed by Manderfields Bakery from 1992 to 2000.
Ellen was a loving wife, daughter and Aunt and will be sadly missed by her husband Alan, her mother Helen Calmes both of Appleton; her brothers and sisters: Michael (Jean) Calmes of Menasha, Patricia (Al) Koivula of Ishpeming, MI, Frank (Barbara) Calmes of Appleton, Kathleen (Dennis) Van Boxtel of Appleton, Barbara (John) Irwin of Green Bay, Linda Calmes of Appleton, Sharon (Stuart) Howard of Paris, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Calmes, and one brother Robert.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 11:00 AM at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 NORTH MC DONALD STREET with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. A memorial fund is being established.
