Ellen M. Radley, age 82, passed away on November 7, 2021 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Appleton, following a fall at home. Ellen was born in Appleton on December 1, 1938, daughter of the late Edward and Verna (Plamann) Schroeder. She was baptized on December 25, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. Ellen was a 1957 graduate of Appleton West High School. She attended Bellin School of Nursing in Green Bay from September of 1957 until June of 1960. At that time, she graduated with a three-year Registered Nurse degree.
Ellen very much enjoyed her 39-year career as a nurse. She worked at Appleton Memorial Hospital, was an office nurse for a period of time and retired in 1999 from Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh.
She married Richard A. Radley on June 30, 1962, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Together, they raised two sons: David A. Radley of Appleton and Steven J. Radley of Orlando, FL. David has two children, Taylor and Forrest. Steven has one son, Connor.
Ellen was an active member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aide and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed playing sheepshead with family and other card games. Even more, she loved the company of her three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Lawrence (Betty Jane) Schroeder, Ken (Carol Buxton) Schroeder, and Don (Judy) Schroeder; sisters: Iris Schroeder, Betty (Emery) Eggenberger, and Phyllis Schultz. Survivors include a brother-in-law: Paul (Connie) Radley as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Christian Funeral Service for Ellen will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 22, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, November 23, at 1:30 PM at Rural Cemetery in Rural, Wisconsin. Visitation will take place at the church on the morning of the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s organ fund.
