Age 95, formerly of the Sherwood area, passed away at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Saturday, November 18, 2006. She was born in the Town of Randoul on August 3, 1911, daughter of the late James and Mary Jane (Weeks) Hephner. On May 1, 1929 she married her husband of 46 years, Paul W. Apitz. He preceded her in death in 1975. Ella was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. Her favorite activities included listening to music on the radio, cooking, baking with new recipes, and watching All Star Wrestling.
Ella is survived by her children: Grace Wittmann of Kaukauna and Frederick (Joyce) Apitz of Sherwood; grandchildren: Alice, Paul, Jean Apitz and David, Darrel (Donna), Richard Wittmann, and Linda (Rich) Cummings; great grandchildren; Elizabeth (Adam) Van Nice, Michael and Emily Wittmann, and Alex and Jordan Cummings; great-great grandchild, Caiden Van Nice; daughter-in-law, Lois Apitz of Appleton. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ella is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son, Charles Apitz; sister and brothers: Mary (John) Genslak, Raymond (Grace), Marshall (Hazel), Thomas, George (Beatrice), Jay (Zoea) and Gilbert (Edna) Hephner; and a son-in-law, Roland Wittmann.
The funeral liturgy will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, SHERWOOD, with Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
