“Betty”
Betty Obermeyer, age 94, of Kaukauna, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Manor Care Health in Appleton. Betty was born on April 14, 1916, in Kaukauna to the late Fred and Martha (Wenzel) Gast. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Betty very much enjoyed the out of doors, especially when Up North fishing and hunting. The times she spent teaching her grandchildren to fish were especially important to each of them. She also enjoyed bowling, cleaning hickory nuts and was an excellent sheepshead and cribbage player. Betty was formerly married to George Welhouse. Survivors include her sons, Richard (Jeri)Welhouse, Virginia City, Nevada; Eugene Welhouse, Riverton, Wyoming; David (Dixie) Welhouse, Cedar Park, Texas; her daughters, Eunice (Don) Grissman, Menasha; Elayne (Dennis) Lehrer, Neenah; and Sharon (Jerry) Pitt, Kaukauna; her 29 grandchildren, Michelle Jost, Lori Krueger, Julie Morris, Richard Welhouse, Jr., David Welhouse, Dean Welhouse, Pamela Tessman, Kanon Welhouse, Rena Heaton, Rory Lehrer, Travis Lehrer, Eugene Frederickson, Patricia Ebben, Alan Frederickson, Kurt Frederickson, Robin Pitt-Phillips, Terry Butler, Dean Pitt, Jamie Lettau, Ethan Welhouse, Hether Quevedo and Stacy League; her 11 great grandchildren, and her three great great grandchildren; her sisters, Gretchen Volpe, Westchester, Illinois, and Alvina Jansen, Kaukauna; and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Frederickson in 1987; six brothers, Fred, Harold, Harvey, August, Carl and Gerald Gast; and two sisters, Leona Jones and Gertrude Stelzner; a granddaughter, Donna Welhouse and a grandson, Joseph Lehrer. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street, Kaukauna, with Rev. Karl Schultz officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kaukauna. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Misty Johnson and the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the staff at Manor Care Health Services, and Dr. Brian Scott, for their loving care. A memorial has been established in her name.
