Elizabeth "Bette" Wingrove

Elizabeth “Bette” (Grishaber) Wingrove, age 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at her home on June 20, 2018. She was born in Appleton on July 11, 1931 to the late Conrad and Theresa (Forster) Grishaber. She was united in marriage to the late John L. Wingrove on September 25, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bette and Jack were married for 45 years and parishioners of Sacred Heart Church.
Bette was zealous about traveling with her husband for weekend getaways and exciting trips to Las Vegas. During her many years, Bette enjoyed her dogs Lassie, Mitzi and Katie as faithful companions. She was an active gardener, Brewers fan and was known as a wonderful cook. Bette received tremendous joy observing the beauty of nature during her daily walks and country drives. Bette was especially passionate about the unborn children stemming from her work experience as a pediatric nurse in her early twenties at St. Vincent’s Infant & Maternity Hospital in Chicago.
Bette is survived by her son, Marty of Sun Prairie; 3 wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was extremely proud, Matt (Jessa) of McFarland, Mitch (Lauren) of Elkton, MD and Mickey (Channele) of Campton, NH; 7 great grandchildren, Christian, Faith, Corban, Jackson, Roman, Grace & Willow; siblings, Thomas (Corrine) Grishaber of Appleton, Gertrude Gaffney of Kimberly and Virginia Grishaber of Milwaukee; in-laws, Connie Stelow of Syracuse, NY and Dorothy Grishaber of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca.
A memorial mass for Elizabeth will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11 AM. Friends may call at the church from 10-10:45 AM. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
