Age 80, died on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at Colony Oaks Care Center. Eleanor was born on July 15, 1921 in Leona, WI, daughter of the late William and Etta (Pope) Krueger. On August 19, 1944 she married Richard Gahr in Oshkosh, and they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on December 12, 1999. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Eleanor will be greatly missed by her son, Tom Gahr and special friend Katy Theys, Green Bay; 4 sisters-in-law, Betty (Roy) Simons, Shawano; Cookie Krueger, Appleton; Judith (William) Norton, Oshkosh; Janice (Robert) Pekel, Appleton; 3 brothers-in-law, Donald Gahr, Appleton; Warren and Neil McRae, both of Oshkosh; 6 grandchildren, Brad and Trisha Nutting; Tina (Tim) Bennett; Scott (Kay) and Jeff (Anne) Gahr; Heather VandeVoort and special friend Tony Thurber and his son Brandon; and 5 great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Allison Nutting; Kamden and Logan Gahr; and Rece Bennett. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tarry Nutting; her brother, Harold Krueger; and 2 brothers-in-law, David Gahr and Duncan McRae. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 20, 2001 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday, December 20 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family wishes to express their special thanks to William and Jean Overesch, Sandy Jacobson, Cookie Krueger, Colony Oaks Nursing Home and many of her special bingo friends, for all their help and support.
