Eldon S. “Al” Rollo, age 81, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Colony Oaks Care Center. He was born August 11, 1923, in Lily, Wisconsin, the son of the late Sherman J. and Alta (Elliott) Rollo. He was united in marriage to Arlene Kapitz on January 9, 1943, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She survives.
A veteran of World War II, Al served in the United States Army in the European Theatre. After his service to our country, Al was owner of Al Rollo Studios in Appleton, Green Bay, Fond du Lac, and Oshkosh, for 35 years, and he was a member of the Wisconsin Music Teachers’ Association. The Rollos were parishioners of St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Following his retirement from his music studio, Al was a familiar face at the Copp’s Food Center on Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton where he worked until just last month.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two daughters, Cheryl Ann (David L.) Dollar, of Huron, Ohio, and Kay Marie (Gary L.) Tobin, of Greenville; there are five grandchildren, Terry Lynn (Mark) Robertson, Deborah Ann (Bryan) Fitzwater, Jennifer Lee Tobin, Michelle Marie Tobin, and Julie Anne Tobin; five great grandchildren, Alec, Emma, Cole, Chloe, and Rio; and a half brother, Elliott Rollo. Al was preceded in death by a brother, Francis R. Rollo.
The memorial liturgy for Eldon will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2005, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Michael K. O’Rourke officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of mass directly at the church. A memorial fund is being established.
