Elaine Louise Jentz (Bartz), age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living in Appleton. Elaine was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on May 26, 1925, to the late Edwin and Louise Bartz. She graduated from Appleton West High School. On October 12, 1946, Elaine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harlon Jentz. They operated their dairy farm together until 1986, when they retired from farming. Elaine also worked for Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent) as well as maintaining displays at local department stores for a private jewelry company. She also taught Sunday School for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellington.
Elaine was very creative in crafts and she would display her work at various craft fairs. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by three sons: Dan (Lesly) Jentz, Robert Jentz, and Mark (Pam) Jentz. Her grandchildren are Melissa (Mike) Jentz-Cote, Dustin, Brian, Brad, Mike, Chris (Miranda), and Lindsay (Rodney) Fox; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Taylor, Noah, Izaiah, Violet, Charlett, Blake, Autumn, Easton, and Aubrielle; step-grandchildren: Dylonn, Mariah, Caitlyn, and Raya. Elaine is further survived by a brother: Jim (Kay) Bartz, a sister-in-law: Judy Bartz, and a brother-in-law: Bill Remter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harlon, her parents, a brother Roy Bartz, a sister Carol Remter (Bartz), a daughter-in-law Vicki Jentz, and a grandson Benjamin Jentz.
The Christian Funeral Service for Elaine will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, N3505 State Road 47 in Appleton, with Rev. Mark Gartner and Rev. Andrew Frey officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Elaine’s name.
Elaine’s family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care for all of their care and compassion.
